Skylab 4 Launch

Our Father was in the Firing Room for the launches of Skylab 2, 3, and 4.

Dad was on the Launch Team for Skylab 2 meaning he was not at his IBM DDAS Station for Skylab 1.

Dad got to watch the launch of Skylab 1 from the NASA Causeway .

He got a vehicle / family pass and we all got to watch the launch together.

This was the only Apollo/Skylab Saturn V  launch he got to watch outside because he was in the DDAS Stacks near the back of the Firing Room for all the other launches.

We have footage of 4 Saturn launches with Skylab 1 filmed by dad in person.  The other 3 launches were filmed by a family friend with Dad's super 8 mm camera.

For those looking for more information on Skylab, I recommend purchasing "Search for Skylab".

The best documentary you can find safely down here on Earth is "Searching for Skylab" by Dwight Steven-Boniecki.

The film is available for purchase through the website: https://www.searchingforskylab.com/

Skylab was America's first long duration Space Station and many experiments and endurance testing became essential data when designing the International Space Station!
